General

Does the Keyword Hero really work?

Yes, totally. The Hero is no scam. Read here how he does it. If you’re still not convinced, just sign up for a free account, see it works and upgrade. But notice that the matching rate in the free / smaller accounts can be significantly lower.

Can anything go wrong?

Absolutely not. The Hero doesn’t mess with your original Google Analytics account but creates a duplicate one with the data, so you’re absolutely safe!

What does he actually do?

He will match your users’ search queries with their session in Google Analytics. Also, he’ll show you your website’s position for a query on Google, the CTR of the keywords and the number of impressions.

What else do I see?

You will see all metrics that you’re used to from Google Analytics, such as BR, time on site, etc. Also, you will see all transactional data, such as revenue, etc.

Additionally, you will see all data from Google search such as the position of your site for any given keyword, impressions, CTR. You can analyze the data in Analytics across all dimensions.

How does he do it?

That guy simply is a genius in maths and has a Ph.D. in statistics. Here you’ll find some more insights into how he does it.

What is the right plan for me?

We wrote an entire article covering this question, check it out here.

Data and Keywords

What else do I see?

You will see all metrics that you’re used to from Google Analytics, such as BR, time on site, etc. Also, you will see all transactional data, such as revenue, etc.

Additionally, you will see all data from Google search such as the position of your site for any given keyword, impressions, CTR. You can analyze the data in Analytics across all dimensions.
You can add the position and other info as a secondary dimension in Google Analytics.

Do I have to connect the SC to my new account?

No, please don’t. The Search Console should stay connected to your original account.

How can I improve the matching quality?

There are a couple of things you can do, to help the Hero match your data better.

  1. Do you have both HTTP and HTTPS in the Search Console? Make sure that both are in the Search Console account that the Hero has access to. He automatically looks for both site types and analyzes them.
  2. A clean setup of Google Analytics has a big impact on the matching rate of the Keyword Hero. Improve your account’s quality by setting up spam filters and make sure your landing pages’ tracking codes work properly.

He doesn’t increase my match rate as much. What’s wrong?

The problem is most likely that you’re in a plan that is too small for the number of URLs that you have. Consider upgrading your plan to get a matching rate of around 95%.
Also, the match rate will improve over time significantly. The Hero gets smarter.

Why is the data in a new property?

The Hero is not going to mess with your actual Google Analytics account. So he creates a new property with all your Analytics data and the matched Keywords.

Why do I not see today’s data?

The Hero relies on a number of data sources to match the keywords to your session. Some of these data sources come with a lag of up to three days. So, today () you’ll see the data as of .

What do all these things mean?

You’ll see some more infos about (not provided) in your keyword list:

(not set) = tracking error or spam, we can’t solve this.
(not provided)_host_unknown = traffic to a subdomain
(not provided)_bing = traffic from Bing
(automatic matching) = AdWords information

Can I disconnect the Keyword Hero and my accounts?

Yeah, sure, immediately. Just go into your Google permissions settings and disconnect the guy.

I created a conversion myself and the guy shows the wrong keyword.

There is always some area of fault here. Only in 50-60%, the Hero is 100% certain. For the remainder, he uses scoring models to attribute the keywords. If you artificially used a keyword and he couldn’t capture your search, he might attribute the conversion to another. But beware that the overall certainty is well above 90%.

When do I see the analyzed keywords?

The Hero analyzes your data once per day. So within max. 24 hours you should see the data.

Can I analyze more than one Goal / Conversion?

Currently not, but we are working on it.

What happens if I only connect one data source?

What do you think? Do you really want to ask that??

Does the Hero also work with Webtrekk, Yandex Metrica or Piwik?

Sure he does. Just shoot us an email: support@keyword-hero.com

I can’t see my conversions!

Make sure you chose the right settings for the Hero to analyze and also for your mirrored account.

The Hero says: “There is no match between SC and GA data. Fix it.” What can I do?

After you have connected Search Console and Google Analytics, the Hero will try and match your accounts. If he can’t match SC with a corresponding Analytics Property, he’ll show this warning. Make sure you chose for both Search Console and Analytics the right sites. Here is an article that covers this in depth: No match between SC and GA.
