It can be very valuable to understand how your keywords perform across different devices.
In many analytics platforms, organic traffic is grouped together, making it difficult to see how keywords perform on mobile compared to desktop. While you can usually see which pages receive traffic and how users behave on your site, it’s often harder to identify which keywords drive traffic on each device.
By analyzing keyword performance separately for mobile and desktop, you can better understand user behavior, spot optimization opportunities, and improve your SEO strategy for each device type.
Keyword Hero helps you to split your organic keywords across devices, so you can compare them and analyze them.
Sessions and key metrics by device in the app
To start analyzing your data by device, select the “Devices” report in the menu on the left:

Now you can clearly how search behavior and rankings differ between mobile, desktop, and tablet users.
The first part of the Devices report shows you the number of organic sessions and the sessions share:

In the table below in the Devices report, you can instantly see the key metrics split out per device, such as average position, bounce rate, page views, events count and event value.

Comparing performance across devices can reveal important differences in user behavior. Mobile users often generate more organic traffic, but they may be researching or browsing rather than converting immediately. Desktop visitors, on the other hand, often spend more time on the site, view more pages, and are more likely to complete actions such as purchases or form submissions.
You may also find that certain keywords rank better on mobile than on desktop, depending on search behavior and how well your pages are optimized for mobile users. These insights can help you improve content, page experience, and overall SEO performance across devices.

And then, the last part of the report shows you the data per device type, at keyword level. This makes it easy to spot device-specific opportunities and trends. For example, you might find keywords that rank in the top 3 positions on mobile but not on desktop, high-intent keywords that drive most conversions from desktop users, or informational searches that mainly come from mobile devices. These insights can help you better understand user behavior and optimize your SEO strategy for each device type.
Use the toggle on the top right to switch between the device types:

By analyzing organic traffic, rankings, and keyword performance across devices, you can gain a clearer understanding of how users find and interact with your website. Device-specific insights help uncover opportunities to improve visibility, user experience, and conversions, allowing you to make more informed SEO decisions and optimize your website for both mobile and desktop audiences.
